This is a purely creative exercise in form. I spent a lot of time last year exploring strategies to create dynamic digital forms using simple code.
The final sculpture proved to be very abstract and difficult to mount or frame. It simply was an interesting piece of three dimensional information, which did not comfortably fit into the real world.
I eventually chose to carve it as a negative surface into a solid plywood block. The natural material reveals a wonderful complexity within each of the contours.
I really like the contradiction between the complexity of the interior form and the conventional rectangular shape of the exterior shell.
